Dear High Plain Families,
 
As you know our school( along with Wood Hill, Bancroft, Sanborn,
Shawsheen and South) was awarded a Department of Education planning
grant to consider expanding the school day to include more time for
academics, enrichment and professional development. 
 
A team of parents, teachers and administrators has been working to
research the feasibility of such an initiative and to examine how and
whether an increase in core academics, enrichment opportunities and
teacher professional development will improve academic achievement. This
is a new idea for our school community.  We understand that there are
many factors to consider, and we appreciate your feedback as we
participate in the exploratory study together.
 
To provide you more information and an opportunity for discussion, we
will be conducting a Parent Information Night on Tuesday, April 15th at
7:00 PM in the auditorium.  We hope you will plan to attend this
important meeting. At that time, we will share with you our research to
date.
 
As part of the process, we are surveying what before and after school
activities your children are participating in during the school year.
This information will help us to maintain and hopefully improve
programming for students.  We are asking all  K-8 parents to participate
in the Before and After School Time audit to help gather this important
data.
