Early Release Day

Next Friday, December 14 is an Early Release Day for Staff Development.
The children will be dismissed before lunch at 11:45 A.M.

 

Be Somebody Who Cares

This year, Sanborn School will be collecting toys to donate to the
Lazarus House in Lawrence.  The director of the Lazarus House, Bridget
Shaheen, was the guest speaker at a whole Student Council meeting last
Wednesday.  Tomorrow, Student Council members will be speaking to each
grade level to discuss the need for toys for needy kids.  Look for more
information this afternoon in your child's backpack.

 

Parent Library

There is now a cart set up in the main entry way of Sanborn with a
variety of books, videos, and articles.  The cart contains materials
relating to a variety of issues pertaining to a child's social,
emotional, and behavioral well-being.  This is just a beginning!  We
would like to develop the lending library over time and welcome any
recommendations or book donations from parents.  There is a sign out
notebook on the cart.  To keep the library active, we are suggesting
that parents return borrowed materials within two weeks.  Thank you!

Coats for Kids

The Sanborn Student Council in collaboration with Anton's Cleaners is
sponsoring "Coats for KIDS".  We are seeking donations of quality winter
coats for babies, children, and adults.  Coats will be cleaned by
Anton's Cleaners and distributed by community agencies to those in need.
Donations may be brought to the Sanborn School foyer anytime through
January 15.  

 

MCAS Dates

The MCAS dates for Spring 2008 for grades three, four, and five, are as
follows:

English/Language Arts (grades 3 - 5) ~ March 24 - April 4

Mathematics (grades 3 - 5)  ~ May 12 - 29

Science (grade 5) ~ May 13 - 29

Social Studies (grade 5) ~ May 13 - 29

Also, the Grade 4 Long Composition will be administered statewide on
March 25.

Winter Session Learn to Skate Programs

The Skating Club of Andover has just published the application for the
Winter Session Learn to Skate programs. It can be downloaded from the

 P.T.O. Meeting

The December P.T.O. Meeting was scheduled for yesterday, Monday,
December 3.  Due to the snow day, it has been rescheduled for next
Wednesday, December 12th at 9:00 A.M.  All are welcome!

 

Sanborn Schools Night with the Lowell Devils

The P.T.O. is sponsoring Sanborn Schools Night with the Lowell Devils on
Sunday, January 13, 2008.  The game is with rival Portland Pirates and
begins at 4:05 P.M.  A flyer and ticket order form is coming home in
backpacks today.
