Upcoming Parent to Parent Talk

Deadly Persuasion: What Advertisers Really Sell Our Kids

Dr. Jean Kilbourne is internationally recognized for her pioneering
work on alcohol and tobacco advertising and the image of women in
advertising. She is a frequent guest on radio and television programs
including "Oprah" and the "Today" show. Dr. Kilbourne will discuss the
hidden truths behind manipulative marketing and its detrimental effect
on students and parents. We encourage middle and high school students,
as well as parents, to attend this phenomenal presentation.

Notices from the Office

Parents are reminded that beginning next Tuesday, October 2, this
newsletter will be issued electronically and paper copies will not be
sent home. If you do not have email access at home and need a paper
copy, we will gladly provide one. If that is the case, please contact
the school office. To receive the newsletter electronically, families
need to subscribe to the Sanborn School ListServ. If you have not
already registered your email address on ListServ, please go to
http://www.aps1.net/ListServ/list_serv.htm and select Sanborn from the
list of schools. You will then be asked to complete a registration
form. Prior to the first electronic issue, the ListServ membership will
be checked against the list of email addresses submitted to the school
office. If you have not signed up online by that date, we will send you
an email reminder to do so. In an effort to reduce the amount of paper
being sent home we will be communicating as much as possible
electronically and only sending home important notices from the school
office on Tuesdays. Unless you request one from the office, this is the
last paper issue of the Sanborn Weekly that you will receive.
