Second Term Progress Reports
Grades closed for the second marking period on Thursday, March 20th.
Progress reports will be sent home with the children on Monday, April
7th.
Department of Public Health Presentation
The Department of Public Health will conduct a presentation on
Methacillin Resistant Staph Aureus (MRSA), tomorrow, Wednesday March
26th from 9.:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the Memorial Hall Library. This public
is welcome to attend.
Kindergarten Registration
If you have families new to your neighborhood who might not be on the
town census list and have children age eligible for kindergarten, please
encourage them to contact the school office at their earliest
convenience. To be enrolled in kindergarten, children must be five
years old on or before September 1, 2008. Parents are reminded that the
application deadline for full-day kindergarten is Friday, March 28th.
MCAS Testing Schedule ~ English Language Arts
MCAS Testing in English Language Arts continues next week. The schedule
for the remainder of the ELA testing is as follows:
Grade 3 ~ Wednesday, March 26, Thursday, March 27, & Friday, March 28
Grade 4 ~ Friday, March 28, Monday, March 31 &Tuesday, April 1
Grade 5 ~ Wednesday, March 26, &Thursday, March 27
Expanded Learning Time Update
The Sanborn site-based team has begun meeting to explore the feasibility
of applying for a Department of Education Grant to expand learning time
at Sanborn, effective September 2009. The team intends to post
additional information on the Sanborn website in the near future and
hold a parent information night prior to April vacation. Serving on
the Sanborn team are teachers Christine Baldwin, Carolyn Fawcett, Carol
Gianopoulos, Diane Waddell, and Laraine Woo, parents Jane Miller, Anne
Ogden, Julie Prentiss, Connie Ricketts, Mary Sakellarios, Maria
Silvestro and Principal Patty Barrett.
Andover Fund for Education Spelling Bee
The annual Andover Fund for Education Spelling Bee will be held this
Friday, March 28 at 7:00 P.M. at Wood Hill Middle School. Come cheer on
the Sanborn team of grade 4 teacher Michael Votto, librarian Karen
Farrell, and parents John Kirks and Christine Rogers.

Grade Four Star Party
The annual Star Party for fourth graders and their families will be held
on Tuesday, April 1st. There are two sessions, 7:00 - 8:30 P.M. or 7:30
- 9:00 P.M. Fourth graders and their families are invited to this
presentation on astronomy by the North Shore Astronomy Club. The
presentation will be followed by guided observation of the stars, moon,
and planets. Finally, warm up with some delicious cocoa and
refreshments. All children must have an adult chaperone. Much of the
evening will be spent outdoors, so be sure to dress for the weather.
