Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast

We hope you will be able to join us for the Volunteer Appreciation
Breakfast which will be held on Friday, May 30 at 8:15 A.M.

Walk to School Day is Tomorrow, May 28 ~ Walk for the Pets

Our second Walk to School Day is planned for tomorrow, Wednesday, May
28th.   This time we will walk to benefit the MSPCA (as well as our own
health and fitness).  Those who would like to contribute are asked to
bring in small items that will benefit the pets at the MSPCA.  A
detailed list of needed items was sent home last week.  Children are
encouraged to gather at one of the "start points" at 7:45 A.M. and walk
to school as a group, accompanied by parent volunteers.  The "start
points" are:  4 Lovejoy Road (driveway), Holly Terrace/Lovejoy Road
intersection, Wabanaki Way/Shawnee Circle intersection, Lowell Street at
Andover Bible Chapel parking lot and Boston Sports Club parking lot.
Thank you to all who have volunteered to walk with the children
tomorrow.

WHMS Open House ~ Change of Date

The Open House for fifth graders and their families who will be
attending Wood Hill Middle School will be held on Monday, June 2 at 7:00
P.M.

Field Day Activities Planned

Mr. Gibson, our PE teacher, is planning Field Day activities for each of
our classes.  The activities will be held from 12:30 - 2:15 each day and
the schedule will be as follows:

Monday, June 9 - Kindergarten

Tuesday, June 10 - Grade One

Thursday, June 12 - Grades Two and Three

Friday, June 13 - Grades Four and Five

We would love some parent volunteers to assist the children at the
various stations.  If you are able to help out, please contact your room
parent.

Grade 4 and 5 Track Meet

The annual 4th and 5th grade track and field meeting will be held at
Andover High School on Wednesday, June 4th.  Parents who are planning to
attend should park in the high school parking lot or the Red Spring Road
parking lot.  Cars parked on Moraine Street may be ticketed or towed.

Annual School Barbecue

Our annual cookout will be held on Friday, June 13th.  Please be sure to
return the bottom portion of the flyer that you received, indicating
your child's lunch choice.

Transitioning to Middle School

It is hard to believe the school year is coming to a close and we will
soon be sending our fifth graders off to middle school.   There are a
number of events planned to insure that this transition is a positive
one.  Parents of fifth graders are invited to attend Open House events,
being held at both West Middle and Wood Hill Middle on Thursday, May
29th.  West's Open House begins at 5:00, while Wood Hill's starts at
5:30 P.M.  Our fifth graders will participate in "Move Up" day and visit
their respective middle schools on Monday, June 2nd.  Also, Principals
Mr. Stephen Murray (West) and Mr. Patrick Bucco (Wood Hill) will visit
Sanborn on Friday morning, June 6th.

Our School Adjustment Counselor, Mrs. Susan Hunter-Jones will facilitate
a workshop for fifth grade parents, "Helping Your Child Make a Smooth
Transition to Middle School", on Friday, June 6th from 8:30 - 10:00
A.M., at Sanborn.  This will be an informational workshop aimed at
supporting parents through the transition process.  Topics to be covered
include:  social/emotional development, physical growth and development,
middle school challenges, and safety issues.  Joining Mrs. Hunter-Jones
at this workshop will be Ms. Joanne Breau, School Nurse, Mr. David
Hughes, West Middle School Adjustment Counselor, and Ms. Hillary Brooks,
Wood Hill Middle School Adjustment Counselor.   To register or if you

Best Buddies Fundraiser

A portion of all sales at Fuddruckers, 50 Walker's Brook Drive in
Reading (at Jordan's Furniture) on Wednesday, May 28th,  from 4:00 -
8:00 P.M., will be donated to Best Buddies International.  To learn more
