WEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

 

2006-2007

 

 

The following list describes some of the volunteer opportunities at West
El this Fall.  We hope that these descriptions will help in your
decision making process.  Please remember that there will be additional
opportunities to volunteer in your child's classroom throughout the
year, as well.  Each teacher will be contacting families directly
regarding their specific needs.

 

YEAR LONG COMMITMENTS

 

1.      Courtyard Enrichment

Help keep our beautiful courtyard thriving.  Assist in the weeding and
maintenance of the courtyard.  Contact Ingrid O'Hara at (978)749-3152 or

2.      Hospitality

This is your opportunity to make sure guests of West El special events
don't leave hungry!  Volunteers are needed to donate food for events
such as Read Around America Day, Shawsheen Move Over Days and PTO

3.      Cafeteria Helpers

We are still looking for volunteers for help in the cafeteria.  Contact

4.      Enrichment Program

We are still looking for volunteers for the before/after school
enrichment program.  Share your talents with the West El students.

ONE TIME COMMITMENTS

 

1.        Book Fair (October 3rd through 6th)

This popular event will run during the first week of October.
Volunteers are needed at various times throughout the week to help with
set-up, sales, stocking shelves and tear down.  Daytime and evening
volunteers needed (critical need for evenings of 10/3 & 10/4 during open

2.        Staff Picture Coverage (October 11th)

We need parents willing to monitor playgrounds and greet students as
they arrive on the early buses while our dedicated staff gets their
group photo taken.  A 15 minute commitment (8:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.) is

3.        Pasta Feast (October 19th)

Last year we served over 80 pounds of pasta, 60 pounds of meatballs and
25 loaves of garlic bread to more than 600 people in under two hours!
Volunteers are needed to help with entertainment, food purchase,
decorations, staffing, and serving/setup/cleanup.  We are still looking
for a co-chairperson for this committee, so please indicate if you are

4.        Holiday Coffee (December 6th)

Help get the holiday season off to a festive start.  Volunteers are
needed in the morning to set up, bring baked goods, buy bagels/donuts
and clean up after this event for parents and staff.  Contact Pam
