Dear Parents,

Each year at this time, we start to put together our class lists for the
next school year. The teaching teams will soon be putting together next
year's class lists. When the lists are completed, Mrs. Roos and I will
assign a teacher to each class. Because of these factors, it is not
possible for us to grant requests that a child be placed with a
particular teacher for the upcoming year. We will not be able to do so
and maintain the integrity of the process.  The name of each child's
teacher for the 2007-2008 school year, grades K-4 inclusive, will be
written on his/her final report card in June.

For your information, listed below are the factors that teachers
consider when they put class lists together. 

Factors to be considered when constructing class lists:

1.	Teaching team recommendations, which include children's social,
emotional, and academic needs
2.  	Balance of heterogeneous groups that address the needs of able,
average, and at-risk students
3.  	Placement of mainstreamed and at-risk students
4.  	Behavioral aspects
5.  	Class size
6.  	Gender balance
7.  	Children's learning styles and work habits

As I mentioned above, you will receive the name of your child's teacher
for the 2007-2008 school year with his/her last report card in June. As
has been the case in previous years increases or decreases in enrollment
between now and the start of the next school year may necessitate the
reassignment of teachers from one grade level to another. If this
occurs, you will be notified by mail if your child's classroom teacher
has been changed. Because of changes in enrollment at several grade
levels, some teachers will be reassigned to different grade levels next
year. Once staffing for next year has been set, I will send you a list
of the teaching teams for the 2007-2008 school year.
