HELP WANTED
West Elementary School Council

West Elementary is looking for three parents to join the school council
for the 2007-2008 school year.

School councils are composed of parents and teachers. The principal
serves as the chairperson. Elections of parent members are coordinated
by each school PTO. Teacher members are elected by the professional
staff. Members of school councils in Massachusetts have the following
general responsibilities:

	*	meet regularly with the principal 
	*	assist in the identification of the educational needs of
students
	*	review of the annual school  budget 
	*	assist in the formulation of a school improvement plan

The council meets once each month, beginning after the council elections
are held and ending with the submission of the school improvement plan
in late November or early December. The meetings are held at West
Elementary School from 8:00-9:30 A.M., usually on Friday mornings.
