Science Enrichment Update Grade Five

            As part of our science enrichment curriculum, our fifth
grade students had an exciting week with Tom Wahle from Techsploration.
The students got to view two demonstrations: Simple Machines Made Fun
and Why Buildings Don't Fall Down. Six Simple Machines workshops,
Gearing up for Speed, also were presented. These hands-on activities
allowed the students to experiment with gears, belts, and pulleys. They
also got to apply grade-appropriate math skills to determine why some
gear combinations allow for greater speed than others. Workshops related
to the second demonstration, Now You're Building, are being planned for
January.
