Student council will be selling Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs at
Wellness Night!

 

 

I. What are Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs? 

a.      CFL  are Special lightbulbs 

b.     Use less energy, so create less emissions from power plants

 

            II.      Cool Facts about Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

a.      Use 2/3 the energy as normal bulbs

b.     Save $30 or more in energy costs

c.      Prevents more than 450 lbs of emissions from power plants

d.     If every American home changed one lightbulb, it would prevent
enough greenhouse gases equivalent to emissions of nearly 800,000 cars

 

          III.      What is the program?

a.      Energy star (a special energy program) has a "Change a
Lightbulb" pledge program, where pledge to change the bulbs in their
home from normal lights to Compact Fluorescent bulbs

b.     Energy Star tracks how many people have pledged and how much
energy it would save! 

 

         IV.      So Far in US...

a.      Pledged to change 808,715 lightbulbs 

b.     Will avoid using 228,057 kw of energy 

c.      Prevent 359,878,175 lbs of greenhouse gas from being sent into
the atmosphere

 

           V.      What's the Point? 

a.      Andover and North Andover are in competition to see which town
can change the most lightbulbs

b.     Student council thought it would be really cool if the school got
involved!
