*        On February 1st fifth graders will hear the feisty activist,
Susan B. Anthony, describe her struggles to fight slavery and gain the
vote for women.  

The program was selected as part of the Cultural Enrichment Curriculum
at West Elementary School and was presented by Andover actor Sally
Matson. Matson received a grant for this program from the Andover
Cultural Council which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural
Council.  In 1903 Anthony said, "I firmly believe that some day a woman
will be elected President of the United States."  She would be relieved
to note that finally an African-American is Governor of MA and a woman
is Speaker of the House.  Anthony spent over fifty years traveling the
country under treacherous conditions fighting for the rights of all of
us.
