Playground Accident

During recess today, one of our kindergarten students fell and banged
his head on the hot top. Because he briefly lost consciousness, we
immediately called 911. He was subsequently taken by an Andover Fire
Department ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital.

By the time the boy was loaded into the ambulance he was awake and
alert. He was accompanied to the hospital by a West Elementary School
staff member. I just spoke by phone with the emergency room nurse, who
told me that the our young student was still being evaluated. 

I share this information with you because the accident took place in
view of many students, who were outside for the annual PTO picnic. Many
of them witnessed both the accident and the arrival of the ambulance.
The boy left with a large bump on his head. He was not bleeding. I
wanted to you to hear this from me just in case your child talks to you
about the incident.
