Dear Friends,
West Elementary Girl Scout Troop 241 is working on a community project
for their Bronze Award.
This project involves two parts. The first part is to educate our
family,
friends and community about emergency preparedness in case of an
emergency. Please access this information on:
http://www.redcross.org/services/disaster/beprepared
Or pick up a hard copy of the 3 in 1 family disaster plan
at the drop off box when you make your contribution (see below)
Our plan for the second part is to collect donated items to put
together a home preparedness kit for those home bound, disabled or those
in need. The items needed to assemble a home preparedness kit are the
following:
Blankets
Gallon water
Pet food
Cards, games and books
Flashlights (new or used)
Can opener (new or used)
First aid kit (small)
Zip lock bags
Extra batteries (C and /or D)
Cereal, granola bars, peanut butter, tuna and/or any non-perishable food
items
Hand warmers
18-22 gallon plastic container (new or used)-deep vs. flat Gloves and
hats Battery operated radio (new or used)
Please drop off any item you may be able to donate in the box next to
the People's Pantry collection Box between
March 26, 2007 and April 12, 2007. We would be happy to accept any of
the above items, however, we would like to suggest that if you are in
Grades K-2 that you choose an item from the top half of the list and if
you are in Grades 3-5 please choose an item from the bottom half of
the list.
Thank you so much
Junior Troop 241
