Car Pool Problems

The last car in the car pool line did not leave the school until nearly
3:25 yesterday. Because it was raining, we had to keep car pool children
inside and call them one-by-one as their parents drove up to the door.
As a result, all second busses were delayed. In addition, some drivers
waiting in the car pool line blocked the front driveways, preventing
busses from leaving the driveways. 

We have brainstormed various ways to deal with the car pool conundrum,
but because we have so many school and day care busses, as well as vans,
picking up children each day there is no other way for us to do car pool
dismissal. 

I am sure that some folks have a good reason for driving their children
to and from school, but car pool dismissal is problematical. During
inclement weather, the problem is magnified, as it was yesterday. The
vast majority of our students have the right to ride school busses free
of charge. Most of those students being picked up, therefore, are not
walkers. Some parents arrive as early as 1:50, even though children do
not pass outside until 2:50 or later. 

Unless you have a compelling reason for picking up your child, please
let him or her ride the bus to and from school.
