Andover Destination ImagiNation

Destination ImagiNation is an extracurricular school-sponsored program
that fosters creativity and problem solving. Andover DI Coordinators are
currently putting together its teams for the 2007-2008 school year. The
teams work together in groups of 5-7 children with a team manager
solving a long-term problem and working on creative problem-solving
strategies. The time commitment is approximately two hours a week from
mid-October to mid-March.

To find out more about this exiting program, log on to the websites
(www.destinationimagination.org <http://www.destinationimagination.org/>
or our state site www.maom.org <http://www.maom.org/> ). Andover DI is a
parent-organized and run activity and we are always looking for parents
to volunteer.

 What Is DestiNation Imagination(DI)?

DI is one of the world's largest creativity and problem solving programs
for youth of all ages, with thousands of participants in 47 US states,
15 countries and Canadian provinces participating annually. DI is not
just an extracurricular activity; it is an extension of a DI brand of
curriculum which draws on Creative Problem Solving strategies and the
multiple intelligences of students to use what they have learned in the
classroom in new and creative ways. Based on the concept of divergent
thinking --understanding that there is more than one way to solve a
problem, DI Challenges encourage students to build on their strengths
and to discover skills they never knew they possessed.

Parent Volunteers Needed!

DI is a volunteer organization, volunteers are needed to help the
children develop, create, build their solutions. These parents are asked
to coach a team by ensuring that the teams follow the DI rules. Last
year over 10 potential teams did not participate in DI due to the lack
of parent volunteers. We will be holding several workshops to help new
volunteers get up to speed on the program.
