January 16, 2008 7:30 PM
Professional Center for Child Development
32 Osgood Street, Andover
Mr. Russ Hoyt will share his experience of growing up in a family with a
sibling with special needs. Russ' oldest brother Rick was born with
Cerebral Palsy and cannot walk, talk or feed himself without assistance.
Russ' father Dick has run the Boston Marathon 26 times while pushing
Rick in his wheelchair. Together, they are the famous "Team Hoyt." In
his talk, Russ will share the story of his family, his relationships
with both of his brothers, and some ideas and research about supporting
healthy sibling relationships.
Russ Hoyt is the Early Childhood Director of Boutwell Early Childhood
Center for the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District. Russ has a
long history of working in early childhood settings, including being a
preschool teacher, Early Intervention Director, and statewide Autism
Specialist for the Department of Education.
